A short Oklahoma chain across the I-44 corridor. KTUL Tulsa is on the historic Route 66 alignment, the Art Deco "Oil Capital of the World" — Philbrook Museum (an Italian Renaissance villa built by oilman Waite Phillips), Gilcrease Museum (one of the world's largest collections of American Western art), and the BOK Tower from the same Yamasaki firm that designed the World Trade Center. Southwest to KOKC Will Rogers World Airport, the namesake of Oklahoma's most famous son (a Cherokee humorist born in Indian Territory in 1879, killed in a 1935 plane crash in Alaska) — and the home of the 99s Museum of Women Pilots, run by the organization Amelia Earhart helped found in 1929. Continue south 15nm to KOUN University of Oklahoma Westheimer at Norman, on the OU campus — the National Weather Center, the NOAA Storm Prediction Center, and the Sam Noble Museum (the world's largest Apatosaurus skeleton).
