Cleveland and the Islands

Burke Lakefront, Cedar Point, and a runway on a Lake Erie island

KBKL Cleveland Burke Lakefront drops you on the downtown waterfront; the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Great Lakes Science Center are walking distance, and NASA Glenn Research Center sits ten miles south. West along the shoreline to KPCW Erie-Ottawa in Port Clinton, the GA base for this stretch of lake: Cedar Point amusement park sits across Sandusky Bay, and the 1822 Marblehead Lighthouse, the oldest continuously operating lighthouse on the Great Lakes, stands on the peninsula between them. Finally a short hop across the water to 3W2 Put-in-Bay, a 2,800-foot runway on South Bass Island, where Oliver Hazard Perry's 1813 victory over the British fleet is commemorated by Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial.
